CoalSearchPlus+ is a trading name of David Bellis Consulting Surveyors Ltd and was introduced in 2005 to provide an online ordering service for the provision
of coal mining reports to the conveyancing industry however
the history of the company and its services stretches back
over 45 years.
David Bellis Consulting Surveyors was formed
in 1972 when Mike Bellis, a former Estates Manager and Chartered
Surveyor with over 20 years experience at the Coal Board,
moved into independent practice. Mike used his wealth of
experience in dealing with mining subsidence legislation
and the settlement of claims made under that legislation
at the Coal Board in order to provide support to individuals
and companies requiring independent mining surveying expertise.
Over a period of time it became clear that there was a need
for a simple mining report that could be used in property
transactions in order to minimise the risk for purchasers
of property in coal mining areas. This was the forerunner
of the current CoalSearchPlus+ report. The CoalSearchPlus+
report answers all the questions required
to be answered in regulated coal reports for property transactions in coal mining areas.
In 2000 ownership of David Bellis Consulting Surveyors passed
to Mike Peace. At that time Mike had been an Associate in
the Practice for 12 years and was ideally place to give continuity
to the practice while Mike Bellis moved into semi-retirement.
Mike Peace holds an honours degree in Geology awarded by
Birmingham University, a Post graduate Diploma in Property
Valuation and is a Fellow of the Geological Society. His
17 years of mining related surveying experience, linked with
academic and practical geological skills, give expert foundations
for the CoalSearchPlus+ service.
Over the past 45 years David Bellis Consulting Surveyors
have established a reputation as an independent source of
mining expertise and in 2010 the business was incorporated to become David Bellis Consulting Surveyors Ltd. Over 420,000 mining reports have been produced
and have been supplied to many hundreds of individuals, solicitors
and conveyancing professionals in locations around the UK.
Additionally support has been given to many individuals and
insurance companies in their pursuance of mining related
subsidence claims.
The CoalSearchPlus+ service builds on David Bellis Consulting
Surveyors Ltd. reputation for flexible, friendly and informed
coal mining information by providing online ordering services
and the facility to deliver reports in an electronic format.
All our reports carry indemnity insurance cover of £2M.
